Haydn - Harmoniemesse "Wind Band Mass" 1802
Mass No. 14 in B flat major: 'Harmoniemesse' ('Wind-band Mass') (H. 22/14) (1802) was Hayn's last major work. It is called the Wind Band Mass because of the prominent use of orchestra winds ( flute, 2 oboes, 2 clarinets, 2 bassoons, 2 horns in B-flat, 2 trumpets).
The setting is divided into six movements:
1. Kyrie - Poco Adagio, B-flat major, 3/4
2. Gloria - Vivace assai, B-flat major, 4/4, "Gratias agimus" "Thanks"
Allegretto, E-flat major, 3/8, "Quoniam tu solus sanctus" "for you alone are holy"
Allegro spiritoso, B-flat major, 4/4
3. Credo - Vivace, B-flat major, 4/4, "Et incarnatus est" "and power"
Adagio, E-flat major, 3/4, "Et resurrexit" "he rose"
Vivace, B-flat major, 4/4, "Et vitam venturi" "and the life"
Vivace, B-flat major, 6/8
4. Sanctus - Adagio, B-flat major, 3/4, "Pleni sunt coeli..." "The heavens"
Allegro, B-flat major, 3/4
5. Benedictus - Molto Allegro, F major, 4/4, "Osanna"
Allegro, B-flat major, 3/4
6. Agnus Dei - Adagio, G major, 3/4, "Dona nobis pacem" "grant us peace"
